Very few customers know that 10 grams of sugar per liter can be added without declaration, which means the product is still a brandy and not a spirit. Without informing the customer, this is even possible in Austria, with a limit of 18 grams.
We are a member of the Association of Sugar-Free Distillers. We believe transparency with our customers is very important. Sugar not only stimulates the brain's reward instincts, but also enhances the aromatic flavor. From a craft perspective, however, it's easier to create a more digestible product with less storage time. We only add 10g of sugar per liter to our Moritzburg fruit water —none of our other spirits. And we talk about it.
For many people it is simply a "snackable drink with a distinct fruit flavor."
